The 2009 music festival season is already heating up: The initial lineup has been announced for San Francisco’s 17th annual Noise Pop event.

Cabaret pop act Antony and the Johnsons, New Pornographers vocalist/guitarist A.C. Newman, SoCal noise rock duo No Age, Pinback side-project Goblin Cock, Arizona indie rockers Dear and the Headlights, and Bay Area upstarts Clues are all scheduled to play in venues across the city February 24 – March 1. More performing acts will be announced as the event approaches.

In addition to the music, Noise Pop, per usual, will also offer festivalgoers film screenings of movies like Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison and Agile Mobile Hostile — A Year with Andrew Williams, a documentary that follows the songwriter and his struggle with his creative vision and addictions.

Badges for the festival, which provide access to all Noise Pop events, go on sale December 3 exclusively vianoisepop.com.
