Atmosphere Joins SPIN at Mile High Festival

During the recent Mile High Music Festival, bands stopped by the American Express® ZYNC ZONE to chat with SPIN about their summers, festival experiences, and much more. We caught up with Slug of Minneapolis hip-hop duo Atmosphere. Watch the full interview below.

With Atmosphere releasing new material in 2011, the group is using gigs like Mile High to test out fresh songs. “The whole point of the tour was to try out some of the new material we had been writing and working on,” Slug said. “I wanted to play a lot of new stuff on this tour to get a feel for it before we head into the studio, and finalize it, and finish the album that will be out in the Spring.”

As for his group’s festival strategy? “I always kind of use festivals to play some songs that I normally wouldn’t really play inside of a closed venue, just because they are a little bit more amped,” Slug said. “Being out here in the sun or being outdoors kind of gives me a chance to wild out or be dumb.”
