Backstage at Bonnaroo: Matt Morris

Another new artist making waves at this year's Bonnaroo was Matt Morris, whose debut album, Un-American, drops later this year. But while it's his affiliations that sometimes garner him some notoriety -- his former fellow Mousketeer Justin Timberlake is putting out Morris' album on his own Tennman Records, and Charlie Sexton is co-producing -- his music is beginning to speak for itself.

I was at Bonnaroo, and I was stunned by Matt's opening performance at the Troo Music Lounge. He wowed the audience, and packed the tent to twice its capacity. You could see people coming in from all over the festival grounds. This guy has an incredible voice. But not just that: his songs are addictive, and smart, too! It's been a long time since we had a rocker with heart like this. For any of you in New York City, Matt will be performing live at Joe's Pub on Thursday night, June 19.
