Beck, Modest Mouse Headlining NYC’s Governor’s Ball 2012

The headliners for this year’s Governor’s Ball festival in New York City carry some serious nostalgia-heavy (read: Coachella 1999) punch. At the top of the list are Beck, Modest Mouse, and Built to Spill. Then there’s Santigold (whose new single is awesome), Passion Pit, Chromeo, and Explosions in the Sky. The way the two-day fest has distriubuted its acts (see below), it seems as if dance fans will be more inclined to hit up Saturday’s lineup, while those more interested in reliving the ’90s and ’00s indie rock (as well as indulge in some modern fare, like our buddies Cults) should focus on Sunday’s.

The fest will be Beck’s first New York show in four years; he played a few California shows in late 2011, but before August, he hasn’t shown up anywhere of note since 2009. It’ll also be Passion Pit’s first Big Apple appearance since 2010.

The fest this year touches down June 23 and 24 not on Governor’s Island as in past years, but on Randall’s Island (still in New York).

Pre-sale 2-day general admission passes will be available for $185 via LivingSocial.com tomorrow morning (February 21) at 5 a.m. EST and include a round-trip ferry ticket out to Randall’s Island as well as a $10 merch voucher. General sale (including non-LivingSocial advance tickets) starts Friday (February 24) at 10 a.m. EST via the Governor’s Ball website; the price on those runs anywhere from $95 for a GA day pass to $300 for 2-day VIP access.
