Big Boi Marches to War for ‘Mother of Dragons’ on ‘Game of Thrones’ Mixtape

Earlier this week, HBO announced the imminent arrival of Catch the Throne, a mixtape inspired by the cable network’s flagship fantasy series, Game of Thrones. The 10-track collection, which is set to drop on March 7, features cuts from Common, Wale, Daddy Yankee, and more, including OutKast’s Big Boi, who has just freed his contribution with help from VIBE. Named “Mother of Dragons,” the two-minute one-off finds the ATLien repping for the Khaleesi, a.k.a. Daenerys Targaryen (played on GoT by actress Emilia Clarke).

“Khaleesi, the Mother of Dragons is one of my favorite characters,” Big Boi, a devout GoT fan, told VIBE. “The throne actually belongs to her and to see her plight to get back on top to where she belongs has been the thing.”

To hear Sir Lucious Left Foot rap about dungeons, dragons, and royal bloodlines (“Fuck the Lannisters and everybody ride with ’em”) over a military-march beat, listen to “Mother of Dragons” over at VIBE.

The fourth season of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO on Sunday, April 17. Watch a trailer below.
