Call it cliché, but it's the truth: Some of the greatest songs are written about relationships, their triumphs, and plunders. And Anthony Green, frontman of Circa Survive whose solo debut, Avalon, drops Aug. 5, certainly agrees, as evident in an exclusive live performance of "Dear Child (I've Been Dying To Reach You)." The new tune was inspired by a bothersome "chick" and his contemplation of the situation "from her perspective," he tells SPIN.com.

Check out footage of Green plucking out the tune below, plus a video interview in which the troubadour discusses the song's creation and inspiration.
