If you’re a broke New York City-based music fan, this summer is shaping up in your favor; Coldplay have announced plans for a free gig at Madison Square Garden June 23 in support of Viva La Vida, the quartet’s Hispanic-tinged follow up to 2005’s X & Y, slated to drop June 17 via Capitol.

Currently, details are murky, but on April 29 — yes, tomorrow! — additional instructions (ticketing, etc.) regarding the performance, as well as a free download (!) of the new album’s first single “Violet Hill,” will be available via Coldplay’s website. The tune and concert info, plus details for a free gig at London’s Brixton Academy June 16, will hit the web at 7:15 A.M. EST — be ready, MSG is big, but so is Coldplay’s fanbase!
