Spacey synth trio Emeralds is now spacey synth duo Emeralds. Bandmember Steve Hauschildt announced on Twitter today (January 3) that founding member Mark McGuire is no longer in the group. “We wish him only the best,” Hauschildt wrote. “Emeralds will continue as a duo consisting of myself and John [Elliott].” He did not specify the reason behind the lineup change, but said the announcement came with “much regret” and clarified that the freshly shrunk band will still perform in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Australia later this year. Further details regarding Emeralds’ tour behind their newest album, last year’s Just to Feel Anything, are forthcoming. McGuire released his most recent solo album, Get Lost, in 2011.
It is with much regret that I announce Mark McGuire is no longer a member of Emeralds. We wish him only the best of luck.
