Stay or Faygo? Insane Clown Posse Will Gather Juggalos in New Venue

Insane Clown Posse Gathering of the Juggalos Cave-in-Rock Venue Change

After seven years at the Hogrock Campgrounds in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois, the annual Gathering of the Juggalos will have to find a new home. This according to a spokesman from Insane Clown Posse’s label Psychopathic Records, who did not disclose the reason for the move or any info regarding the five-day festival’s 2014 location. However, as The Southern Illinoisan points out, ICP have confirmed that a site has been chosen and that it is, officially, a doozy.

Of course, while the rap-metal-fueled event is fervently beloved by its tens of thousands of attendees, the Gathering has also drawn its fair share of criticism — both from haterade-drinking fearmongers put off by the fans’ hatchet vibes, and from people who matter. Like festival vendors, and the county sheriff. In September, a group of businesses contracted by Psychopathic alleged that they were still owed $300,000 for their contributions to the August installment.

And Sheriff Jerry Fricker doesn’t seem the least bit misty over the Juggalos’ egress. “With them being gone,” he told Fox News, “it will take the worry and expense away from the county.” He cited the overtime strain on law enforcement, and also the fact that hospital patients coming from the fest often carry no ID or use aliases, which results in unpaid medical bills. One estimate puts the cost to Hardin County from various Hogrock events at $20,000 annually.

None of which would be a problem if Psychopathic’s checks cleared. Vendors said promoters indeed cut checks, but that they bounced. Sheriff Fricker confirmed this, claiming ICP’s people had kindly signed over a $5,000 donation to his department at the time, but that the thing wasn’t worth more than the paper it was written on. Psychopathic issued a statement in September citing the difficulty of throwing an event of that scope without corporate sponsorship.

Oh, and the FBI has labeled the Juggalos “a criminal organization,” which can’t help.
