Giant Drag Splits in Two

According to their MySpace page, darling new grunge torchbearers Giant Drag have retracted into a solo project for singer/guitarist Annie Hardy, with drummer and synth-player Micah Calabrese no longer listed as a member of the band. “It’s not really a breakup,” a spokesperson for the band told SPIN.com. “He has left the band before.”

But Hardy has removed Calabrese’s name from the band’s MySpace page and left fans curious about the likelihood of a future album. “She’s writing it,” assured our source. The album, a follow-up to 2005’s Hearts and Unicorns, is yet to be assigned a release date. Notorious for her fictional rants and blunt disgusting humor — including gross-out confessions about death (read more) and about suffering sexual abuse at the hands of Chris Isaac — Hardy could be pulling our chain. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time.

Talk: Do you think Calabrese will return or is Hardy really going it alone? COMMENT
