Last year Los Angeles quintet Grouplove released Spreading Rumors, their second full-length and another solid set of candy-coated anthems imbued with ace musicality and lovely strangeness. “I’m With You” opens the album with explosive aplomb, beginning with a flurry of keys and graduating to a dance-punk beat and the comely vocals of Christian Zucconi. There’s some Pixies in there somewhere and some Built to Spill, too, but the idea-packed freneticism and hooky bigness is pure Grouplove — a phenomenon that can be witnessed above via a live clip for the song. Parts of that performance will appear in I’m With You, a short-form tour doc about the band directed by Sam Erickson (My Morning Jacket, Dave Matthews Band) that premieres on Palladia TV Friday, January 24.
On February 25, Atlantic will do a proper digital release for the film along with six songs culled from their Seesaw Tour shows in New York — the track list can be found between the trailer and the tour dates below.
