Guardian Alien Distill ‘See the World’ LP Into One Trippy Video

New York City psych explorers Guardian Alien recently released their debut album on Thrill Jockey, See the World Given to a One Love Entity. The record consists of a single, trance-inducing 40-minute rumination. Conceived and edited by Guardian Allen maestro Greg Fox (Dan Deacon, Teeth Mountain, Liturgy), and directed and co-edited by Matt Marlin (Pterodactyl, Starring), a new video distills the title track’s experience into six heavily hallucinatory minutes, involving UFOs, kaleidoscopoic visual effects, and snippets of performance footage; the band cites as influences Christopher Walken’s performance in 1989’s Communion, multimedia storyteller Aeolus Kephas, and the ever-fascinating thinker Robert Anton Wilson. Fox’s drumming prowess is no joke, but as that list of inspirations might suggest, the video’s effects aren’t so much propulsive as heady and introspective.

See the World Given to a One Love Entity is available in a limited quantity of gold vinyl LPs, as well as CD and MP3. Guardian Allen are on tour now with like-minded band Starring.
