Kanye West Apologizes for Upstaging Taylor Swift

After jumping onstage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at tonight's MTV Video Music Awards and loudly proclaiming that Beyonce deserved the award, Kanye West says he's sorry.

"I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom," West wrote, in all caps, on his website. "She is very talented. I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she's in the bleachers! I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment."
Swift was onstage accepting the night's first award, for Best Female Video, when West interrupted, grabbing her microphone, and saying that Beyonce's video for "Single Ladies," which didn't win, was one of the best videos of all time. MTV producers cut to prerecorded footage of Tracy Morgan while Swift tried to regain her composure and finish her acceptance speech, but she was unable to do so.
Later in the night, when Beyonce did earn a moon man for Video of the Year, she graciously invited Swift to come back onstage and have her moment.
West, meanwhile, went home to watch "the show at the crib right now cause…well you know!"
Even within his apologetic blog posting, though, West still hyped Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video: "Beyonce's video was the best of this decade!!!! … You [Taylor] are very talented!!! I gave my awards to OutKast when they deserved it over me…that's what it is!!!"
Swift has posted no comment on her official site or Twitter, as of press time.
UPDATE: West issued another apology Monday afternoon on his blog, saying, "I feel like Ben Stiller in 'Meet the Parents' when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave. That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry." Monday night, the rapper appeared on the debut episode of The Jay Leno Show, apologizing for his actions in an emotional interview with the TV host. Watch video here.

Kanye is a complete asshole period! His apology is not good enough with me. Even if he was drinking @ the time, that is no excuse & he ruined Taylor's moment on her achievement award. Not surprised that he would pull a stunt like this because the guy has no class @ all. Thank you Beyonce for being genuine & classy.

How can you say mind your language and shit in the same post? It's like Nicholas Cage in Face Off when he said, "Watch your fucking mouth!" I mean, hello!!! I was thrilled that his show with Lady GaGa has been cancelled. Bummed for her but much better off for her to not be associated with that moron cause I can like her now.

Of course his apology is enough; we're talking about an interruption at a goddamned awards show. It's sad to think that any of these stars (or anyone at Spin Magazine, for that matter) considers the moment of winning an MTV Video Music Award to be so important or meaningful that for it to be "ruined" by something like Kanye's action is reprehensible to the point that a clear and sincere apology wouldn't be good enough. What would you have him do beyond an apology -- community service? Jail time? Give me a break.

No, I would not expect jail time. What I do expect is for us to stop buying his music, stop watching his videos and stop supporting his ridiculous, outrageous behavior. What he did to Taylor Swift WAS traumatizing. Not as a superstar, but as any human being up in front of millions giving a speech. She did not steal this award from anyone. It was given to her. Kanye is the one that needs to "get over it". He cannot be allowed to just keep behaving the way does and apologizing when he sobers/wisens up!
I agree if it had only happened once. Kanye's boorish behaviour continues on yr after yr. How many times do we need to hear his poor excuses after he's completely humiliated another fellow artist???? Beyonce won the night for me by being so gracious- she did not have to do that and give up her moment of acceptance and she did- she is a class act, unlike Kanye.
Typical Kanye...what a loser. He had to feel like crap after realizing that Beyonce got Best Video of the Year, which is probably why they gave Swift the Best Female Video. If he would have just kept his mouth shut for 50 minutes, he would have seen Beyonce get the best award of the night.

Best I can tell he has only had a few good songs himself and I can't understand why he was nominated in any of the catagories tonight. His Video Sucks Balls! I am not a country fan at all but I can appreciate her music and often find myself humming along to her song when I hear it. Taylor had made her mark and deserved the award. She is a cross over artist and they have the larger vote from both pop, and the country community. Kanye should be nuterd so he can't bread anymore dumb asses.
No his apology is not enough. This is not the first time he has pulled something like this and I am sure it won't be the last. I highly doubt it's really about the issues he claims it is and it's more about upstaging others. He is a classless schmuck who deserves to be blacklisted from MTV and their affiliates the same way they have done with other artists in the past. I don't care how talented someone may be there is no excuse for poor behavior. Is this really someone we want our kids looking up to? Hell no.
Kayne West was wrong, and he admitted it. I think Taylor Swift is a class act, and I hope she just moves on beyond Mr. West's outburst.
