Kings of Leon Plan Summer Tour

Nashville, TN, rockers Kings of Leon had a banner 2009 — they scored SPIN’s Band of the Year award and won three Grammys, including Record of the Year for their hit “Use Somebody.” So, how will the Followill boys celebrate? Simple: Road trip, bro.

In continued support of their latest album, Only by the Night, the quartet have just announced a 32-date North American tour, set to kick off June 5 in Atlantic City, NJ. The outing will span the entire summer, hitting outdoor arenas from rural Washington State to San Diego, Detroit to West Palm Beach, before closing out September 23 in Dallas. Along the way the boys will make a pit stop near home to headline Manchester, TN’s Bonnaroo Fest.

Kings of Leon — who recently launched their own fashion line — are currently writing music for an upcoming album. “The new stuff is all over the place,” drummer Nathan Followill said in a recent interview. “There’s stuff that sounds like Radiohead. There’s stuff that sounds like Thin Lizzy. There’s stuff that sounds like the Band. We’re pretty much to the point now where… [we can] try stuff we would’ve been scared to death to try on the first couple of records.”
