Sure, they won a Grammy last week and two Brit awards last night, but Kings of Leon aren’t wasting any time celebrating. Currently on a world tour, they’re already planning their follow-up to 2008’s smash Only by the Night — and according to the band, their new sound will take fans by surprise.

“We are definitely considering doing something that people aren’t gonna expect from us,” frontman Caleb Followill told BBC 6 Music. Guitarist Matthew Followill added, “We change it up every record… it may be a little grungier.” He said Kings of Leon will begin recording in early 2010, and plan to release the album that fall.

“The next album that we make, that we’re already working on, I can assure you, is one that I’m the most excited about,” drummer Jared Followill said. “We haven’t really got down to lyrics yet, but a lot of good stuff. It’s cool.”
