Watch Kool A.D. and Friends Rhyme ‘Tight’ Over a Toro y Moi Beat

The 11 tracks on Kool A.D.’s Word O.K. March mixtape are loaded with impressive names, ranging from Talib Kweli and Boots Riley to Dame Grease and Issue. But the San Francisco rapper of Das Racist fame revisited the New York scene for “Tight,” a sinister-sounding, Toro-y-Moi-produced track from the pay-what-you-want Bandcamp release. The song features the smooth post-gangsta stylings of Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire and a verse from Lakutis that can mostly be described as loud (also: insane, fierce, wild, lewd). In the song’s black-and-white video directed by Slack Barrett, Kool softly starts off with, “Goddamn, goddamn / That’s how the kid feelin’,” as the trio’s raps are overlayed with select lyrics amidst images of smoke and girls.
