Following the recently released “Short Movie” (the title track from her forthcoming album), Laura Marling has unveiled a lovely new tune titled “False Hope.” Opening with reverb echoes, the just-shared song creeps in slowly at first, but picks up the pace with mid-tempo percussion, Cranberries-esque melodies, and lush vocal layers. Honest as always, Marling asks, “Is it still okay that I still don’t know how to be alone?” It is OK, but she won’t be for long with jarringly lovely tracks like these.
