LISTEN: MGMT’s Four-Song Impromptu Session!

With Congratulations MGMT crafted one of the best albums of 2010 by paying tribute to the post-punk and baroque pop sounds they geeked out on before fame set in. And along the way, they expanded into a five-piece and became one seriously badass live band. Proof positive: Their just-released Daytrotter Session. Listen here!

Recorded at Asheville, NC’s Echo Mountain Studio during MoogFest last October, the session features sharp performances of Congratulations gems “Song for Dan Treacy,” “I Found A Whistle,” and “It’s Working.” An added bonus: A cover of “Only a Shadow” by 1980s Brit post-punk group the Cleaners of Venus, another band that influenced MGMT’s Congratulations.
