Sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll: At some point, especially with hopes of a lengthy career, one of the three has to go -- and it's certainly not the rock'n'roll and most definitely not the sex. And for hot-headed Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, when the time came to give up cocaine once and for all a few years ago, he turned to none other than, um, Oasis' Noel Gallagher for inspiration???

"A couple of years ago I was like, 'You know? Enough of this. I don't need it.' It was literally something that happened one morning, like 'Y'know? Fuck that,'" Ulrich told quietus.com [via NME.com]. "I was very impressed with Noel Gallagher. As you know, I'm an Oasis fanatic, and Noel was like, 'You know what? No more cocaine!' (Gallagher reportedly quit in 1998) and I thought, 'If he can do it, everybody else can do it.'"

And though Gallagher may be off the Devil's dandruff, he hasn't lost his bombastic, cock-sure touch on stage or in a heated war of words -- just ask Jay-Z. Mr. Ulrich, please, continue following in suit.

hahhaha. i mean, the best way to quit anything is certainly
to take it day by day.

lars, just wake up and say "today i won't do coke."

now for all you soon-to-be-rockers, just say
"today i won't try coke." and you won't have to deal
with the cliche trappings.

I am currently going through a cocaine addiction recovery and it is not easy at all. You have to want to quit otherwise it will never happen. My best friend suffers from addiction and she won't get help. It sucks because I won't hang out with people who do those things anymore otherwise I might do it again.
