Modest Mouse Fuel Album Hopes With Spring Tour

modest mouse, tour dates, new album

The lonesome, crowded west won’t be so lonesome this spring. Modest Mouse have announced a new tour that will take them around the U.S. and into Canada. The curmudgeonly crew have 14 shows ahead of them, 13 of which are booked throughout the month of May. The last engagement, set for August 2, will take place at the just-announced Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Montreal.

The northwestern band canceled a string of European gigs in June of 2013 so they could focus on writing their long-awaited sixth album. As of now, details on the upcoming LP are scarce. Ex-Nirvana member Krist Novoselic revealed back in September that he plays bass on one track, saying, “It’s pretty edgy. I’ve got my big Gibson bass and a Rat distortion pedal busting out a… this bass riff.”

That promising collaboration, the three new songs that Modest Mouse played live last year, and these just-confirmed tour dates all hint that the follow-up to 2007’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank may be coming sooner rather than later, which would make it pretty late still.
