This week: Brendon Urie, the 24-year-old frontman of Las Vegas-bred emo-pop dramatists Panic! at the Disco. The band is currently touring the U.S. in support of their latest album, Vice & Virtues.

FAVORITE SONG:
“At the moment, it’s Elvis Costello’s version of ‘What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace Love and Understanding.’ I never get tired of hearing his voice or this awesome song that seems, to me, to be so true to the state of the world today.”

FAVORITE NEW ARTIST:
“[Atlanta singer-songwriter] Fran Capitanelli. He’s been around for some time, but I just discovered him recently. He recorded an album called Cave Talk by himself on an 8-track recorder. He’s one of the funniest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and one of the most talented musicians I’ve seen live.”

FAVORITE MOVIE:
“Right now my favorite movie is probably Inglourious Basterds. I love everything about it: the cinematography, dialogue, characters/actors, wardrobe, everything. If it’s on, I’m watching it.”

FAVORITE TV SHOW:
“I don’t watch very much TV, but Community and The Ricky Gervais Show have been my new favorites. I like to laugh.”

FAVORITE RESTAURANT:
Buffalo Wild Wings is always a good choice. I love Asian Zing Wings and I love beer. And they have both.”

FAVORITE STORE:
“I love shopping online for clothes, but only from places that I’m familiar with their sizing. Topman is definitely that place. The majority of my wardrobe consists of clothes from this store.”

FAVORITE PIECE OF CLOTHING:
“Vests. I think I need more of them. I wear them with both a t-shirt and/or button-up. And they’re great on days when I’m only cold around my chest.”

FAVORITE GADGET:
“Lately, I’ve been playing around with an app on my iPhone called Beatmaker. It’s fun and easy to create a unique beat and also fun to try and get my friends to throw some fresh lyrics down. It gets pretty dope.”

FAVORITE VIDEO GAME:
“I am currently playing L.A. Noire. I’ve had to start over about nine times because our Xbox is located on our bus and ‘save progress’ is not an option. But it’s got me going back every time.”

FAVORITE PIECE OF MUSICAL GEAR:
“My favorite electric guitar would have to be my Duesenberg. I’ve named her ‘Dolores’ and she sings like an operatic menace. And the sustain is unreal — you could go out for a bite to eat and you’d still be hearing that one.

FAVORITE DRUG:
“Well, seeing as weed enhances my physical AND mental well-being, music sounds better, movies are funnier. It’s just awesome.”

FAVORITE LIE:
“‘If you don’t follow these commandments, God will strike you down.’ When I was a little kid, this thought scared me. Now I just think it’s funny.”

FAVORITE PLACE TO ESCAPE:
“At home. I have a room dedicated to music and recording. I go there first thing in the morning and just before I go to bed. And it has a window to my street so I can watch all the crazies walking by.”

FAVORITE PET:
“My favorite type of pet has always been a dog. They’re loyal, kind, and offer endless affection. My friend Eric says, ‘The more people I meet, the more I like my dog.’ Funny thought.”

FAVORITE PIECE OF ADVICE:
“‘Just show up.’ Our friend and producer Rob Mathes told us this before we began writing for Vices & Virtues. I think about this piece of advice quite a bit. The hardest part is showing up, but you’ll find the biggest rewards if you do.”
