It Happened Last Night

Peter Bjorn and John Join the 'Young Folks'

PHILADELPHIA: The Swedish pop trio bring their atmospheric niceness to the famed TLA.

As the lush guitars of "Roll the Credits" soaked up the spring Philly air, an indie pop love fest was well underway at the Theater of Living Arts Thursday evening (May 3), for a devoted crowd of hipsters gathered at the old movie theater for a magnificent night out with Peter Bjorn and John. The Swedish trio, which delivered select standouts from their latest LP, the eclectic Writer's Block, appeared playful and charming throughout their 90-minute set.

If second generation indie fans weren't dancing along to the trip-tastic guitar layers of "Up Against the Wall" or swaying to and fro during the lazy daze vibe of "Amsterdam," their eyes were fixated on Au Revoir Simone's Heather D'Angelo, who joined Peter Bjorn and John for the endearing whistle-along "Young Folks." Such a date had to come to an end, however, but Peter Bjorn and John left in style, delivering a three-song encore (including "Poor Cow" and the Concretes' "Teen Love") for a kissable send off.
