Rolling Stones Tease Setlist for Pricey Anniversary Shows: More Dates to Come?

The Rolling Stones

Now that the Rolling Stones have officially confirmed four 50th anniversary shows (and one pay-per-view special), let the setlist predictions, grousing about high prices, and rumors of additional concerts begin. Hey, it’s only rock’n’roll (but they like it).

As NME points out, the Stones posted a hand-written list of songs on Twitter just before announcing their sets of upcoming shows in London and Newark, New Jersey. With a couple of dozen songs, including some of the Stones’ best known hits, it would make sense if the list is a preview of what to expect when the Stones return live. “Paint It Black” and “Honky Tonk Women” make the cut, as do new songs “Doom and Gloom” and “One Last Shot,” both from the band’s November 13 compilation GRRR!. Check out the full list below (yes, “She’s So Cold” is on there twice).

Getting into the Stones shows might not be cheap, however. As MusicWeek reports (via FACT), tickets for the November 25 and 29 gigs at London’s O2 Arena are already running from £300 ($484) to £11,000 ($17,742) apiece on secondary ticketing websites. The tickets were only supposed to be available so far through a special presale for AmEx customers, with face values from £90 to £375, plus booking fees.

Less financially flush Stones fans might find all they need, with apologies to another hard-rocking band, after just a little patience.

As Rolling Stone points out, guitarist Keith Richards declined to rule out the possibility of a longer live run during an interview with the BBC’s Matt Everitt. “You know I wouldn’t be surprised,” Richards said, when asked if the four concerts announced so far might only be the first of more. “Nobody’s actually given a heads up on that, but I don’t think that this band is gonna wind up all of this for four shows. I think they want to do something for the end of the year, and I think next year probably looks like it’s on.”

You can’t always get what you want, but if you wait until 2013…
