Do not ask Ryan Adams about his personal life and do not ask Ryan Adams to repeat himself. These sorts of things will get you a prompt hang-up if you’re speaking to the 1984 singer via phone for an interview, as happened to a pair of Australian radio hosts recently, according to BuzzFeed. Here’s what Adams himself had to say about the matter:
OK, so I just hung up ’cause I was on the radio getting asked about my wife. I was really nice about it the first time, and I’m sorry, but I won’t repeat myself. The deal is this: I’m a private person and I’ll be a gentleman and say I’m not talking about my marriage ever. I’ll never talk about it. Ever. I’ll talk about rescue cats for a few seconds. But even there I don’t want to talk about my pets. If I have children I’m not going to discuss that with anyone ever. I’ll suggest it once and then I’m going to hang up.
It’s not an entirely unreasonable explanation, and the “Gimme Something Good” musician even went on to express the self awareness he needed to properly back up his statement.
I don’t really have a history of uplifting myself in the public eye.
