Twin Shadow Remix Adds Throb to Goldfrapp’s ‘Thea’ Fog

Twin Shadow is known not just for his love of ’80s synth drama, but also for his love of covering other people’s songs. With his monthly Under the Cvrs series, George Lewis Jr. has reimagined material by Lou Reed, U2, 112, and Tori Amos, among others. Now, the crooner has turned his attention to Goldfrapp, remixing the electronic duo’s next single, “Thea.” The original track hangs like a thick fog, adding to the Lynchian mystery explored on Goldfrapp’s 2013 LP, Tales of Us. Twin Shadow’s remix cuts through the haze with thumping beats, flashy percussion, and sped-up vocals. The redux will accompany the “Thea” single when it drops on March 25, along with other remixes by Blood Diamonds, WAWA, and Red Top. For now, stream Twin Shadow’s take below.

Goldfrapp are also planning a special cinema-and-concert event next month. On March 4, select movie theaters around the world will screen the Tales of Us film, a 30-minute narrative that follows five stories featured on the album. The movie, which was co-created by singer Alison Goldfrapp and director/writer Lisa Gunning, will immediately be followed by a simulcast capturing a 50-minute performance by Goldfrapp.

Watch a trailer for the film above, and head to Goldfrapp’s website to locate participating theaters.
