Twitter Tries to Do Music Again With a New ‘Buy’ Button

After its ill-fated foray into music last year, Twitter is coming back swinging with an in-app “Buy” button that will allows iPhone and Android users to download songs and albums with only a few simple clicks. After announcing preliminary partnerships with Pharrell, Ryan Adams, the power-popping New Pornographers, Diplo-approved vocalist Kiesza, and others, the company rolled the initiative out today to select users of Twitter’s smartphone apps. Here’s what the social media site had to say about the move:

Today we are beginning to test a new way for you to discover and buy products on Twitter. For a small percentage of U.S. users (that will grow over time), some Tweets from our test partners will feature a “Buy” button, letting you buy directly from the Tweet. After tapping the “Buy” button, you will get additional product details and be prompted to enter your shipping and payment information. Once that’s entered and confirmed, your order information is sent to the merchant for delivery. Your credit card is processed securely and won’t be shared with the seller without your permission.

Additionally, Twitter has shared a nifty little video about how to go about buying your favorite bands’ new albums on the service, which you can watch below. It’s a very exciting time to be alive, especially for lazy people who hate clicking a lot to get their music delivered to them.
