POSTED BY Phoebe Reilly 01.22.09 5:21pmToday’s Academy Award nominations yielded a few surprises: Revolutionary Road was almost entirely ignored (and rightly so), while the little-movie-that-could, Slumdog Millionaire, snagged 10 nods -- not far behind The Curious Case of Brad Pitt...

Editors BlogIs Animal Collective the New Moby?
POSTED BY Charles Aaron 01.19.09 8:43amSince back in October when I first heard the new Animal Collective album, Merriweather Post Pavillion, and later enthusiastically trekked through a windswept rainstorm to a listening party at Manhattan's River Room -- an oddly swelegant bar/restaurant ("Harlem's Tavern on the Green") perched hard on the Hudson River at the end of an endless concrete walkway off Riverside Drive -- I've be

Editors BlogReview: Prince's 5 New Songs
POSTED BY Steve Kandell 12.19.08 2:03pmHis last album, 2007's Planet Earth, was bundled for free with Sunday papers in London (the first single, "Guitar," was a Verizon exclusive). It's something of a shame that this is the only thing the album is remembered for because it was as good -- as distinctly Prince-like -- as he's sounded in years, stacked with languid funk jams and, like the song says, guitar.

Editors BlogOasis: Magnificent Bastards
POSTED BY David Marchese 12.19.08 9:18amBefore Wednesday night's show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Liam Gallagher's contemptibility had just about slipped my mind. After all, it had been seven years since I last saw Oasis live.

POSTED BY Phoebe Reilly 12.15.08 12:01pmFew people have escaped the stigma of teen stardom -- or of stardom, period -- as entirely as Michelle Williams. Her roles this year in Synecdoche, New York and Wendy and Lucy are enough to make you forget her tabloid existence and even go, Jen who?
