Bumbershoot Readies Nick Drake, Miranda July Art Exhibits
Officials for Seattle's 37th Annual Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival have revealed details for the event's visual arts component, citing exhibits curated by performing artist and K Records musician Miranda July as well as by the estate of somber singer/songwriter Nick Drake as highlights of his year's festival, set to hit the city's center Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 1-3).

Kings of Leon, Art Brut Join Bumbershoot
Kings of Leon, Art Brut, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Gym Class Heroes, Gomez's Ian Ball, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Andrew Bird, and the Frames are among bands added to the bill of Seattle's 37th annual Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, slated to hit the Northwest city's center and surround the Space Needle for three days, Sept. 1-3.

A Tribe Called Quest Still Kick It
Since formally disbanding in 1998, the members of A Tribe Called Quest, one of the most celebrated hip-hop acts of all time, have kept a relatively low profile. Side projects came and went with little fanfare while some were even shelved altogether. Last night, however, their forces once again combined for an inspired set to close out Seattle’s annual Bumbershoot Festival.

Farewell to Bumbershoot
SPIN.com's college correspondents were heavy on the scene covering Bumbershoot, Seattle's three-day music and arts fest. We recruited eight students -- four writers, four photographers -- to cover the even for SPIN.com, live, all weekend long. It's Hip-Hop for Mates of State, Rishi Rich Project
Indie pop darlings Mates of State -- Kori Gardner (organ) and Jason Hammel (drums) -- lulled the crowd with lush melodies and moving lyrics when they took the stage under Seattle's Space Needle. The husband-wife duo started their set with "Fraud in the 80s," whose hook promises, "you will surely find this pleasing to your ears."

Seattle Hip-Hop: Common Market, Blue Scholars
DJ Sabzi of Common Market and Blue Scholars was probably the busiest man of the weekend. On day two of Bumbershoot, the Seattle native spun back-to-back sets for both his acts, keeping the festival's local hip-hop pulse alive.

The anticipation was palpable for one of the weekend's most anticipated acts: Memorial stadium was sold-out, its onstage string section was illuminated, and thousands in attendance raised their hands making diamond formations for the night's star, Kanye West.

Village Green, Olympic Sound Collective: Different Kind of Dance Music
Portland rock duo the Village Green were one of the first acts to play Bumbershoot's third and final day, and drummer Jeremy Sherrer was already downing a beer as guitarist/vocalist Nicholas Allard announced he had a hangover.
