Run-DMC cutmaster Jam Master Jay passed away 10 years ago at the age of 37. It’s not overstatement to say he was the most influential DJ in hip-hop history. Stepping onstage at Live Aid, he proved that rappers could rock louder than any band. He cut so fast that Jack B. Nimble was on his dick, and helped bring concrete-cracking scratches from the New York underground to the suburbs, stadiums, MTV, the Billboard Top 10, the Grammys, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In memory of the big beat blaster, here’s some photos from his groundbreaking career.
