Weird Music Feud: Slipknot vs. Coldplay

Although Coldplay and Slipknot share a love of despairing album titles (Coldplay's Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends and Slipknot's All Hope Is Gone) and a fondness for costumes (see Coldplay's "Violet Hill"), we never expected to write a single story that contained both these bands.

But then Slipknot's lead masked man, Corey Taylor, threw down the gauntlet during a U.K. MTV interview, while talking about Coldplay's Viva La Vida: "That is one of the most self-celebratory pieces of shit I've ever fucking heard in my entire fucking life." After then telling nobody in particular to perform a sexual act that can't be mentioned here, Taylor addressed the frontman directly: "Are you watching, Martin? Suck it….I fucking hate that album. It's music to wipe your ass to." [via Contactmusic.com]

Martin had no immediate response to the publicity-seeking comment. But in the spirit of the season, we're expecting one of the Gallagher brothers to join the fray shortly.
