Rap superstar Lil Wayne acts and lives like a bonafide rock star. But now it seems the New Orleans-bred emcee is switching his music to match his lifestyle and will record a rock'n'roll album!

According to up-and-coming hip-hop artist Drake (a.k.a Aubrey Graham, the actor who plays Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation), Lil Wayne has been hard at work on a rock-oriented follow-up to last year's blockbuster Tha Carter III. "Wayne's coming out with a new album, it's a rock album. A complete rock album," Drake said, before explaining his new direction was partially inspired by Kanye West's ambitious new record, 808s and Heartbreak.
"It's something different in just that whole '808s and Heartbreak,' just throwing individuals off." [via Gigwise.com]
While you await more details on Weezy's album, check out his guitar skills in the video below. The audio/video quality isn't incredible, but then again, neither are Wayne's shredding abilities.

What I like best about Lil Wayne is his ability to combine prolific rhymes with catchy music. In "Prom Queen", the lyrics and background guitar are completely incongruous. Read more about it here: http://music.ology.com/2009/01/26/lil-wayne-to-forsake-god-given-talents...
