Part one of a two-CD, four-volume collection, Fire & Water unhinges the split personality that Thrice previously kept in check, with the seething melancholia of the Fire tracks crashing against the quieter, more esoteric atmosphere of Water. Part Tom Waits meets Isis, part Coldplay as performed by a robot orchestra, the results are fairly stunning.
