Pick of the week? I mean, I freaking love Ladyhawke don't get me wrong, but her album came out over a year ago. Why not just pick The Beatles if you're going to go old albums?

The sad part is that Florence + The Machine came out three days after this was posted. By far one of the best albums of the year!

Regardless of how you feel about either artist, you can't claim that the quality of their art is a myth. Isn't a myth a widely-known FACT, not a widely-held opinion?

I've had a love/hate relationship with her all year. In many ways I respect and enjoy her talent/craft, but I also see how derivative it can be. Everything's derivative nowadays, but it's frustrating when one--or one's supporters-- also constantly argue for your originality, and do so at the detriment of other talented artists, specifically her peers. That said, I also don't really believe in using words like "genius" and "amazing" or even, to a lesser extent, "artist". The hype machine for this one is just way out of control, and it's starting to blind even the most objective critics.
