Bloc Party Map Brief Summer Tour
Who? East London-bred post-punkers Bloc Party, led by singer/guitarist Kele Okereke. Fellow countrymen Does it Offend You, Yeah?, a dance-tinged electro outfit known for their high-energy gigs, will open all dates.
What? A brief U.S. tour dropping into cities such as Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New York, sandwiching Bloc Party's appearance at Lollapalooza Aug. 1. After returning home for a month, the quartet will cross the pond once again to hit the stage at Toronto's Virgin Fest Sept. 6.
Should I go? Yes. Bloc Party's latest record, the ambitious sophomore opus A Weekend in the City, proved to entice live audiences with its dramatic, jagged guitars and smooth, icy sound. And now Bloc Party are currently recording their forthcoming follow up back in the U.K.; expect the band to road test new tunes. Plus, as they demonstrated at SXSW and Coachella, Does it Offend You, Yeah? are a must-see.
