Electric Six, 'Kill' (Metropolis)
Motor City horndogs are back to trash happy hour.

This Detroit band has yet to match the goofy disco-metal glory of 2003's Fire (you'll recall "Danger! High Voltage," featuring Jack White, and "Gay Bar"). But their sixth album's opener, "Body Shots," nails it joyously, with frontman Dick Valentine mixing his two voices -- über-confident growl and sex-crazed falsetto -- on a cowbell-assisted jam that crams Tenacious D, Prince, and '80s metal into the same sweaty club. Again, E6 can't quite keep it up throughout, though they still sound delighted to mess with sounds both full-throttle ("You're Bored") and loungey ("My Idea of Fun").

I'm sure this album is consistently AMAZING. just like their other 5 albums. Im sick of high profile magazines giving this band lackluster reviews. They deserve 5 star ratings and fame and fortune! but no....that stuff goes to all the TERRIBLE bands that exist. Fucking lame.
P.S - anyone have any idea if this thing has leaked or not? I for one cannot wait.
I am seeing this band in Pittsburgh on Oct. 14. This is a week before the album is released. I hear that they are only going to play songs from the new album Normally I don't like when bands do that, but this is not a normal band. I've been wanting to see them on stage since the first time I heard them. Can't wait!
I agree! I can't wait for this album, just like the last four I bought on release date- they definitely have some lackluster songs to match the reviews, but overall, they are more fun than any other band I've heard of.
Plus, with glowing reviews, concert ticket prices would go up! :)
They're freaking awesome live! I just got my tickets to see them for the fifth time at a new venue in DC- they have never disappointed (even with openers like Bang Camaro), and they've never played for less than an hour and a half- they'll work some classics in I'm sure.
Got something to say?
