While his guitar remains ulceric, songs such as “The Ballad of Charley Harper” stew rather than combust. Incanting dread and portent in monotone and chanting Hare Krishna-like on “Bar-Nasha,” Chasny finally lets some light through on closing instrumental “Acteon’s Fall.”
