Teddybears, ‘Devil’s Music’ (Big Beat/Atlantic)

In today’s fractured musical landscape, Britney Spears fans are Arcade Fire fans are Jay-Z fans. But diversity has always been Teddybears’ m.o., and their sixth album features a guest list that includes Wayne Coyne, Cee Lo, the B-52’s, and Eve. Stylistically, Devil’s Music ranges wildly also, from Day-Glo ’60s freak-outs to balls-out disco burners (the Robyn-assisted “Cardiac Arrest”) to willowy space rock. It’s all unified by the trio’s studio skills — they do a fab job tweaking B.o.B’s vocals on “Get Mama a House.” Still, the few moments where star power wanes, Teddybears suggest they don’t have much to offer on their own.
