Arctic Monkeys Play It Cool in San Francisco

Readers have been posting their live reviews from the Arctic Monkeys' North American tour and winning hot prizes! Check out this recap of the band's San Francisco show!

The landscape of San Francisco's Tenderloin district in front of the Warfield is a bit off tonight. Intermingled with the district's usual cast of characters -- the drug dealers, the prostitutes, the "colorful" street people -- are the hordes of middle-aged hipsters and Urban Outfitters-attired teens all converging to witness the British phenoms, Arctic Monkeys.

Hottest Stars Under 25

Spin handpicks the hottest stars under 25 -- a fiery bunch that includes Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and Idol alum Kelly Clarkson.

Youth is king, as the saying goes, and here are a few stars who prove the old phrase hasn't lost its meaning. At age 20, Alex Turner fronts the most buzzed-about British band since the Beatles. Lindsay Lohan has been through the ringer and back, been dubbed a party girl and, most recently, a decent actress. And she's just 20. Here are some other stars that made the cut.

Vancouver Fans Go Bananas for Arctic Monkeys

"Honestly, no one wants to hear us for longer than an hour, they'd get bored," Alex Turner mused.

"Like Linda Blair in The Exorcist, but not strapped to the bed," was how supporting band We Are Scientists bassist Chris Cain described U.K. fans of British indie rock sensations Arctic Monkeys. Cain asked the sold-out crowd at the Commodore Ballroom May 27 in Vancouver to deliver a similar welcome to the Arctic Monkeys on the first date of their second North American tour.

Rock Gets Sensitive

Spin assistant editor Kyle Anderson waxes on New York's WB11 about the heart-touching ballads that are topping the charts.

On WB11's morning show this week, Spin assistant editor Kyle Anderson lent insight into why there's been an influx of sensitive-guy balladeers. Anderson attributed the success of such wounded souls as James Blunt, Daniel Powter, the Fray, and Nick Lachey to the universality of their lyrics. "We've all had bad days, we all think people are beautiful," Anderson said.
