Bradford Cox is a restless artist. The breakout Atlanta native ceaselessly performs and writes and records woozy shoegaze and electronic music as both Deerhunter and Atlas Sound, and has collaborated with the likes of Stereolab, Animal Collective, and the Black Lips.

Every Spoon show in Austin, TX, has nostalgia attached to it.

Early gigs at the now-closed Sound Exchange on the University of Texas campus, shows at Emo's in the late 1990s, and even more recent performances at dives like the Scoot Inn are markers in any Austinite's personal history. Even now, Spoon's influence looms large over the capital city's scene: There's not another local band that can fill the amphitheater at Stubb's three nights in a row, especially in 102 degree heat.

When an early version of Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox's second album under the Atlas Sound moniker leaked to the internet last summer, the Atlanta native was peeved. "Fuck this shit," he wrote to his blog at the time. "It's not finished and now it never will be."

This past September's All Tomorrow's Parties event in Monticello, NY, was a noise-ridden good time loaded with great acts -- including reunited shoegazers and festival curators My Bloody Valentine.
