DJ Earworm’s Annual Pop Mega-Mashup Is Here

We’ll say one thing for DJ Earworm, the producer who takes on the Herculean task of combining dozens of hit pop songs together every year: He’s good at what he does. The question, especially in light of 2015’s effort, “50 Shades of Pop,” a five-minute mashup that features tracks by Adele, Drake, Taylor Swift, and many more, is whether that’s a worthwhile goal. Earworm, whose real name is Jordan Roseman, has done about as great a job Frankensteining all these disparate songs together as could be imagined, but the result is still a largely shapeless mess, without any through-lines or choruses to latch on to. Maybe it’s just not meant to be. Still, noble effort.
