Duke Spirit Collaborate with Fashion Bad Boy

UK indie outfit the Duke Spirit have been known to infuse a generous helping of the blues in their indie rock sound. But for their latest release they’re leaving the color palette in the capable hands of bad boy English fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

The band have signed on to release a new album exclusively at Target (!), where it will appear in conjunction with McQ Alexander McQueen — the designer’s new collection for the chain store. The record, due out February 24, will feature a selection of the band’s hits plus tracks previously unreleased in the U.S. (“Do What You Love,” “Souvenir,” and “Masca”), along with a cover of Alex Chilton’s “Baby Doll.”

Fittingly (sorry, couldn’t help it), Duke Spirit frontwoman Leila Moss served as muse for the clothing line. “I am ecstatic to be an aspect of Alexander McQueen’s work,” she said. “I have always been fascinated by the way he brings the raw, symbolic beauty of the natural world sharply into play with a regal, noble, architectural force. Thematically, the Duke Spirit and McQueen tread a similar path at times… antlers, feathers and the stuff of the pastoral idyll, stumble into a loud, sweaty pit of punk rock.”
