Gogol Bordello Announce Tour, Live DVD

Their live shows are raucous and sweaty affairs, and now they're available for anyone to see. Gypsy punk trailblazers Gogol Bordello are releasing their first live DVD, Live From Axis Mundi, on October 6, and it includes a full concert, their music videos, and b-sides, plus a bonus CD of outtakes and live tracks.

Gogol Bordello's unique gypsy-punk sound grew out of the immigrant experiences of frontman Eugene Hutz, a Ukranian forced from his home by 1986's Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Hutz lived in Hungary, Austria, and Italy before settling in New York City and founding the band in 1993.

This past weekend, San Francisco's Golden Gate Park welcomed the eighth annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, with its truly eclectic bill, including Gogol Bordello, Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Elvis Costello, Iron & Wine, and Bonnie "Prince" Billy, among others. Another performer: country-lovin' indie-rocker Ben Kweller.
