You know the holidays are near when the music biz releases new albums by Kanye West, the Killers, Scott Weiland, and Guns N' Roses all in one jam-packed week. GNR's 15-years-in-the-making Chinese Democracy arrives Sun., Nov.23; the others drop on the more-traditional Tues., Nov. 25.

New Stone Temple Pilots Album?
Reunited alt-rockers Stone Temple pilots have indeed written new material. Its release however, is questionable -- and it's not due to Scott Weiland's oft-troublesome lifestyle. Thank Atlantic Records, which is suing Weiland and drummer Eric Kretz for breach of contract.

Slash: "I Need a Break from Politics and Democracy"
Former Guns N' Roses and current Velvet Revolver axeman Slash is "at the very tail end of the demo phase'" for a solo project, which he could start recording in the studio early next year, Billboard.com reports.
