Trash Talk Bassist Throws Beer at Drone, Scores

Trash Talk bassist beer throw video drone

Trash Talk bassist Spencer Pollard caused $700 in damages and started a verbal altercation at a show in Detroit last weekend. The incident ensued after Harry Arnold—a 52-year-old Detroit native who runs an aerial photography company called Detroit Drone—flew his Go Pro over the band at a skateboarding event in the former Michigan Theater. As seen in the video above, Pollard launched two drinks right at it. The second shot sent the device careening to the ground in the security area between the stage and the crowd, which cost Arnold about $700, he told MLive

Arnold was (understandably) pissed, so he confronted the bassist about his reckless behavior. “I expressed my bewilderment at why he would do that,” Arnold said. “I didn’t use that line, but that’s the gist of what happened—and he was like, ‘Screw you,’ and I was like, ‘Screw you,’ and that was that. There was mature language used.”

Thankfully, the altercation didn’t escalate, because, as Arnold points out, there were children present at the event. “If [the drone] had come down on a kid in a stroller, it could have done some serious damage,” he said. He’s right, but then again, a punk rock show at an indoor skateboarding event might not be the safest environment for a baby. After all, the punk troupe’s violent performances caught the attention Austin’s police department at this year’s SXSW, as well as raucous rap collective Odd Future, who released the band’s last record. Luckily for Arnold, the promoter has reportedly agreed to cover the losses he incurred when Pollard took down his camera-bot.
