Like many a college student, NYC indie label Matador Records has chosen Las Vegas as the site of their 21st birthday, and their posse of revelers is packed with the biggest names from their expansive catalog.

Pavement, Sonic Youth, Belle & Sebastian, and the classic Bee Thousand-era lineup of Guided by Voices will headline three nights of music, October 1-3, at the Palms Hotel & Casino. Yo La Tengo, Cat Power, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the New Pornographers, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Girls, and Fucked Up are among the other bands announced so far.

Also of note on this initial lineup announcement: Spoon and Superchunk, who both record for North Carolina indie imprint Merge (which is the same age as Matador, and celebrated a 20th birthday last year) but saw their albums released via Matador outside the U.S.; and Liz Phair, whose first three albums — including the classic Exile in Guyville — were Matador releases.

Additional bands and ticket information will be announced on the label’s blog July 5.
