Jane’s Addiction have been hard at work on their first album since 2003’s Strays. And now Perry Farrell and his crew have roped in an new collaborator: TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. The multi-instrumentalist (and producer of albums for his own band, plus efforts from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals, and others) will be playing bass and writing songs with Jane’s for the still-untitled LP, according to Spinner. Co-produced by Rich Costey (Franz Ferdinand, Muse), the album is due out this summer.

It’s been a tumultuous past few years for Jane’s Addiction. Founding bassist Eric Avery abruptly quit the band in March, after re-joining two years earlier for their reunion tour. The band replaced him with Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan in April — only to have him split after five months on the job.

Still, Farrell says Jane’s Addiction — which still features longtime members Dave Navarro (guitar) and Stephen Perkins (drums) — is functioning just fine. “Dave, Steve, and I are fully immersed in the process of making modern music,” Farrell said in a statement. “It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential.”
