Dave Grohl, Christina Aguilera, and John Mayer Will Induct Rock Hall’s Class of 2013

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has turned to some familiar faces to help introduce the eclectic Class of 2013 this spring.

Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl — he of Sound City documentary fame — and Taylor Hawkins, both fresh off helping make Led Zeppelin cry at last month’s Kennedy Center Honors, will induct Rush. Christina Aguilera, who released new album Lotus last year and has been beamed into people’s homes via NBC’s The Voice, and Jennifer Hudson, last seen serenading Barack and Michelle Obama, will perform and induct Donna Summer.

One of the presenters for Albert King may have kept his face in the gossip pages thanks to public sightings with Katy Perry, but his voice hasn’t actually been heard for a while. John Mayer, who recently sang live for the first time in two years after recording from throat surgery, will perform with rising guitar-slinger Gary Clark Jr. Mayer will also deliver the induction remarks.

The Eagles’ Don Henley, fresh off promoting his band’s documentary at Sundance, and who entered the Rock Hall in 1998, will induct Randy Newman.

This year’s other inductees are Public Enemy and Heart; Lou Adler and Quincy Jones are this year’s recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement. The Rock Hall said it will reveal other presenters and special guests at a later date. The list of people who’d be honored to induct Public Enemy alone must be impressive indeed.

The 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is set for April 18, 2013, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. HBO will broadcast the ceremony on Saturday, May 18, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
