Dyme-a-Duzin Doesn’t Like ‘New Brooklyn’ Hipsters, Either

We missed this last month, but we’re glad we spotted it now: Dyme-a-Duzin, a 20-year-old rapper and Warner Bros. signee, penned an ode to his home turf titled “New Brooklyn” that both acts as a tribute to BK rappers like Jay-Z and Notorious B.I.G. and carries the torch lit by Beastie Boys’ “Hello Brooklyn.”

“New Brooklyn” is essentially the hip-hop visual accompaniment to Christopher R. Weingarten’s “R.I.P. Brooklyn” piece as Duzen laments the hipsters that now flood the streets of Bed-Stuy and Red Hook. Still, the rapper is proud to hail from his borough. The video can also double as a Lonely Planet guide book to all the must-see places in BK: Dyme-a-Duzin makes visits to Barclays Center, Nino’s Pizza, Coney Island, and Peter Luger’s Steakhouse, but judging by the fact that Duzin’s rapping under the awning, he probably couldn’t get a table there either. “New Brooklyn” features on D-A-D’s mixtape A Portrait Of Donnovan.
