Everclear Continue to Bleed ’90s Nostalgia With Summerland 2013 Tour

everclear, summerland 2013

Art Alexakis promised to buy you a new life way back in 1997, but the Everclear frontman can’t stop looking backward.

Everclear are hitting the road again this year for the 2013 edition of Summerland, a traveling ’90s alt-rock radio flashback tour that should not be confused with Mark McGrath’s Under the Sun, another traveling ’90s alt-rock radio flashback tour.

Summerland 2013 (subtitle: “Alternative Guitars”) will also feature live sets from Live, Filter, and Sponge. The nostalgia trip kicks off in Florida on May 29 and ends on July 28 in Kansas City, Missouri.

“Last year’s Summerland was a blast,” Everclear frontman Art Alexakis said in a statement. “This year, we’ve brought a decidedly edgier flavor bill to satisfy all of the fans of Nineties rock & roll out there. It’s going to be an amazing summer night every night on Summerland 2013: Alternative Guitars.” Because nothing says “edgy” like a twirling rattail.

Sugar Ray took part in Summerland 2012, but McGrath and co. declined to re-team with Everclear this year. “Unfortunately, Art and I have different ideas about what the tour is about,” McGrath told RS recently. “He’s doing his own thing now.”
