J. Cole Murders Miguel in ‘Power Trip’ Video, Talib Kweli Steals His Mojo for ‘Come Here’

Miguel J. Cole Talib Kweli Power Trip Come Back

Back in February we shared “Power Trip,” a J. Cole song about obsession that features a clutch assist from Alt-R&B king Miguel. The track hails from the former’s long-delayed Born Sinner LP, finally seeing the light of day on June 25, and it now has a music video to go with. For now, the clip is streaming exclusively on Rap Radar, but it’s worth your click. In the beginning, we see Cole stalking the object of his affection — either a cheating girlfriend, or a women whose heart belongs to another man. Either way, the other guy is played by Miguel, and things get ugly off-camera before they go incredibly macabre for the finish.

Fortunately, we have proof that the Grammy-winning singer behind 2012’s triumphant Kaleidoscope Dream is still kicking (and singing). Below you’ll find “Come Here,” a new song from Brooklyn backpack rap mainstay Talib Kweli who seems to be in the unfortunate process of recasting himself as a sex symbol. Still, as cringe-inducing as it might be to hear the Black Star member rap about his bedroom M.O., Miguel arrives and makes it all better, sucking up all the innuendo in the room and repurposing it as his own like some kind of smooth-crooning Shang Tsung. Kweli’s Prisoner of Conscious album arrives May 7.
